wray

Only about 6 weeks late but she got there in the end. This is Wray – Lily’s Ravelympics project.

Knitted in a 2-ply laceweight from The Yarn Yard this certainly kept her occupied for a while!

Who knew that something so simple looking could require so much design effort? Keeping the various widths of rib on track really tested her.

We are hoping that Lily will be able to get this sized up and available on Ravelry, but it’ll be her first real attempt at a multi-sized pattern so it could take a little while to get to that stage. I haven’t the faintest idea how to tackle this so I’ll be on the look out for a Tech Editor to help us out.

In the by now traditional manner, Wray is named after a scenic Cumbrian location – Wray Castle. The photographs were taken in front of the gatehouse shown here.

We did get some rather strange looks from the locals though!

But then again we’ve never shied away from shocking folks for the knitting cause!

Wray is beautiful!! Excellent work as usual Lily!
Simply stunning photos Amanda! Lily’s design is just gorgeous, maybe I can knit one for Isabelle after I finish some other projects!
So beautiful! I love how delicate it is. The whole outfit is lovely!
I love it. I’ve been thinking a lot about knitting cardigans at a teeny gauge because of how delicate and lovely they turn out and here is a perfect example. This looks like it was well worth all the extra effort.
Your photographs show Lily’s gorgeous design and knitting so beautifully. You two are a great pair! Beautiful sweater, Lily. Well done, as usual!

This design is gorgeous ! Lily , you are totally amazing ! I so admire your designing and knitting skills !
Wow! Its lovely! Great job, Lily!
I have just found your blog, though I have been admiring Lily’s work for a while. ( now I can admire yours as well) I have a daughter a little older who knits well – but isn’t obsessive like Lily. I was at that age though in a house of non knitters there wasn’t that much ecouragment. Lily is lucky she has you but, she is a talented young lady and I suspect will be as good as the likes of ysolda in a couple of years whether she has negative comments from people or not. Keep showing us her work knitting or other wise. Elenya is also about to do photography gcse early which camera did you buy for Lily?
Woooooooow, this is gorgeous! And Lilly is looking quite stunning in the photos, if I may add!
I loooove the little detail on the sleeves!
Good luck with tackling upsizing, I can’t even conceptualize how that works… ; )

Oh my, this is wonderful! And Lily, you’re turning into a young woman — when did that happen? Congratulations on a fabulous design — using a fine fiber at a slightly larger than usual gauge gives it such a lovely effect. Like everyone else, I am *SO* impressed.
Yowza! What a knockout!! The sweater, the designer, and the young woman.
All those wonderful, light, little details. The frilly hem, the subtle rib, the curled button band and those adorable little sleeves. Even the little skirt the sweater is paired has those sweet carousel horses!
There just aren’t enough compliments.
This is seriously the most beautiful knit I’ve seen anywhere for a long time. I really hope Lily decides to publish this one. Beautiful!
Wow the sweater is darling! Lily outdid herself once again and this is perfect for spring weather. Lily is also growing into a beautiful young lady. Excellent job, Lily!

Wow! Wow! Wow! i can’t say enough about this… the color selection, the stitch details. I (stupidly) thought this was from a pattern and was in awe of her ability, now I’m just stunned… floored…. Simply fabulous Lily.
Only two month’s late to the party as it were – but felt I had to comment on this as it is ABSOLUTELY STUNNING. I am full of admiration. It is one of those designs that looks so simple and elegant and yet you know that there are all manner of tricky details in there – I love the sleeves and the flare of the main body.
Looking forward to seeing this pattern published!
Absolutely lovely! I can’t wait to knit this pattern once it is avail. to the public. Awesome work I love to see such passion and determination in such a young knitter!
So very beautiful. Looking forward to the pattern beign available to buy! Well done.
Be prepared to get even more great compliments on this lovely project. I was so inspired by Lily’s knitting and your great photography that I linked this project in a Ravelry forum. Talented ladies…both of you!
