one of those catch-up ones

owls-sweater
Not gonna lie, I sat down for a good half hour tonight and procrastinated over what to blog.  And then I saw this post by Debi.  And thought y’know what, why not just chat?  Her post was so so so lovely and motivational blog-wise.  Drivel seems to go down well here, so more drivel it is!

I’ve spent god knows how many hours this week working on my final piece for textiles, and thankfully it’s finally (almost) done.  My whole class went into college on our study day and I came home never wanting to sew another stitch again.  Lasted until the following day, when I was whizzing my corset through the sewing machine once again.  Deadline stresses aside, it was actually quite fun being with my textiles and arty girls all day, we had a right laugh!  I love how we’ve only actually known each other for a relatively short time but get on so well.  Every single arts student was in on our day off, we had the radio on full, the art department resembled a bombsite by the time we left but final pieces look good so hey.  Once mine’s 100% finished I’ll bring it home (somehow, could be interesting on the bus) and take a few photos to share with you guys.

I basically feel like I’ve just been between college and dancing this week!  At the minute I’m dancing a couple times per week, as our show’s coming up pretty soon so lots of practice to be done.  Hasn’t left much time for a great deal else during the week but left my weekend free at least, small mercies!  Of course I’ve still managed to waste time endlessly browsing Pinterest.  Of course.  It’s for inspiration!  Looking at summery stuff whilst there’s a (admittedly feeble) layer of snow on the ground, no surprises there.  SS15 board is underway already.  You can probably tell from my board that I’ve been obsessing over white, white and more white.  Maybe I’m maturing (lol) into a love of looks devoid of colour.  I’ve already decided that my next textiles final piece for unit 2 is gonna be all white and textural and fancy.  We haven’t even been given the bloody theme yet but I know it’s gonna be white!  Slightly backwards logic there maybe but you know me. 🙂

As far as workouts go, it seems that every time I tell myself I’m gonna have a ‘good week’, I have a mediocre one, and every time I don’t set my goals too high, I surprise myself.  This week fell into mediocre territory, but I’ve had enough stuff to get on with at home that it’s not the end of the world.  Basically my motivational self lost to my “you need the sleep” self in that little internal debate you have when your early alarm goes off.  Deciding ‘I’ll just have 5 more minutes’ ended in falling back asleep for an hour.  I’m out like a light, it’s ridiculous!

On top of all that, we’re moving house very soon so busy, busy times!  Tell me something random about your week so far. 🙂

Is this textiles for A Level? I think it’s cool you can make clothes, I bet it comes in a lot of use when you have to adjust your own clothes. I can’t even sew a button on tbh!x

It is indeed! Textiles A-level is far more art based than dressmaking, but I’ve always loved making my own clothes anyway 😀

I don’t think I have anything random to share. Well, tomorrow is the last day of the 30 day yoga challenge I’ve been doing, and also Janathon – which is to exercise every day in January. Woo!

Moving house is stressful, I hope you don’t find it too painful!

Well done you for completing it! I haven’t had my best month fitness wise but seriously need to get my ass into gear for Feb as I’ll be on stage in a tutu on the first of March haha. Not a time to be bloated.
It’s *hopefully* not gonna be too stressful! We have a couple of weeks to complete the move and it isn’t too far away, and I’m actually quite excited haha 😀

I feel like I could do with a little more motivation this week too! It really is time that makes it difficult, as I end up just prioritising other stuff. I’ll get back on it soon!
I’m gonna miss dancing so much when I leave! Go for it!

Hi there! Looking forward to seeing your final piece!
Something random? Hmm… I’ve been thinking a lot about clothes shopping and low-cost fabrics impact on both environment and human working conditions (okay I might have been influenced by that Sweatshop mini series a lot) and I am thinking about starting sewing now! When I knit a garnment I am trying to avoid seams as much as I can considering how much I have hand-sewing, but if I let myself actually learn how to use a sewing machine (my mum has been sewing things since she was 10 or something so I even have a teacher already!) I could make my own wardrobe myself! Also, since I am constantly on a budget, that could be the best of both worlds–enhancing my creativity a bit and save on those cheap, “disposable” clothes we all need to buy every once in a while!
Haha, not THAT random tbh 😀 I hope I can manage to get into sewing anyway, I have so many things to do! I wish we did not need to sleep! 😛
Hope you’re having a nice and sunny week-end, here it has been pouring basically the whole week!
    xx

Hey! I’m gonna post pictures as soon as I can!
You really should start sewing! I mainly just enjoy the freedom and satisfaction of wearing something I’ve made myself but the environmental side is really important too. I try to knit everything seamlessly too – making the fabric and then sewing it all together afterwards is such a huge job. I like sewing clothes on a machine though, but that’s different as you’re not making the fabric in the first place too. Well, I did in my textiles piece, but that’s more for art than functionality.
I seriously wish we didn’t need to sleep too!
It’s actually been relatively sunny this weekend, but very windy and cold! We had a light sprinkling of snow yesterday morning but nothing today. No rain either at least!

A random thing about my week: Today I went hiking! I go to university in the middle of a city so getting out is really hard, but I have a friend who has a friend who has a car… One of the girls who was going to go hiking with them today couldn’t go, so I joined last minute. The hike was supposedly a four-mile round trip, but it felt a lot longer than that! Probably because it was two miles straight uphill, haha. But the views were incredible. It was so worth it. Miles of trees and mountains, and a huge blue lake. I love getting out of the city.

Do you have any videos of your dance performances? That would be really cool to see sometime. 🙂

That sounds lovely! Spontaneous days out are great aren’t they? Especially outdoorsy ones 🙂
I’ll try and get some videos of our rehearsals and maybe share after the show! I have the DVDs and VHS (yes really) of our shows back to 2001, when I was in the Hey Little Hen and teddy bears’ picnic dances haha!
