#UpwardsTop is finally ready for test knitting 🙋‍♀️ It uses 4ply / fingering weight yarn and the pattern is written for my usual 9 sizes, with optional bust darts for each size. I like to wear mine with the keyhole in the back, but it can go either way if you don't use darts! I managed to make 2 tops with 2 skeins in a size 2, and knit until I ran out - I'm aware this isn't useful for other sizes, but for sizes 1 and 2 (and perhaps 3, if you have more generous skeins), it's a nice project to use up every last scrap. It's a fairly quick and simple knit, and the applied i-cord edgings are so satisfying to make 😍 All info on the application page linked in my bio!

#TakeTurnsTank pattern will be available on Wednesday ✌🏻 Wore mine for a day exploring yesterday, perfect for warm weather. Most of these photos were taken at @freilichmuseum_stubing, an open air museum 20km outside Graz, as recommended by my lovely host @mariejelenka ⛰️ In between exploring, meeting new people, crashing out tired and catching up on work, I actually haven't fit in as much knitting or reading as I expected... time to put that right!

Also, turns out knitstagram is not only a wonderful place for meeting the kindest people, it's also fab for learning / practicing languages - as I've found out by chatting in German in my DMs today! Vielen Dank jederman wer hat mit mir Deutsch heute gesprochen - es ist fantastisches Übung und vielleicht söllte ich das mehr machen 😁🇦🇹

Cut my hair and caught a plane 💇🏻‍♀️✈️ Wore my newly finished #UpwardsTop for my first day exploring Graz - it is so ridiculously beautiful here! Walked many many steps, ate schnitzel, took loads of photos, found a yarn shop, knit in the park... all good fun 😇 Never sure whether to post non-knitting stuff on here rather than my personal account but swipe for some pretty travel pics if you fancy!

I'll finish writing up / formatting the pattern for this top at some point in the next few days 🤍

The poofiest little bubbly sleeves. Firm believer that Sleeve Island is the best part of a project, especially a second sleeve where I don't need to worry whether it'll turn out right or not 🙌🏻 Anyone else enjoy the home stretch or does second sleeve syndrome hit you hard? 😅

#UpwardsTop ⏫ It's finished and I love it. Simple design with neat applied I-cord edgings, which are possibly the most satisfying way to finish an edge ever. And easy! Working top down meant I could knit until I ran out of yarn, and I managed to get a whole top from 1 skein (360m) of 4ply.

The edgings aren't as white as I'd hoped and I daren't wear it with white pants (the colour run during blocking was pretty scary 😬) but I'll wear it lots nonetheless. I think keyhole at the back is my favourite, but could wear it either way since I don't make bust darts for myself (don't exactly need them 😅). The pattern will include optional darts though. Staple simple tank for a summer wardrobe!

The original & the update 🤓 Finishing details are my favourite part - love a neat edge and a nice shape. Crochet edgings on knit fabric work so well to cinch everything in and firm it up... even if you've never crocheted before, it's way easier to crochet into a knit fabric than it is to crochet from scratch, so I'd definitely recommend ✌🏻

Turns out the #TakeTurnsTank is a pretty quick knit when you don't have to rip it back 58 times 🌚 Many of my wonderful test knitters have finished already so I've brought the release date forward a bit to the 25th May, same day as the (still nameless) white sweater. Trouble with naming patterns is that half the time I think I've had a good idea, then check Ravelry and it's already been used - just thinking of something that sounds nice doesn't cut it 🙈 Hardly surprising when there are literally millions of patterns out there! I like a name to suit the mood of the item, be kinda relevant, sound nice as #hashtagsweater... it's a whole palaver that I keep putting off 😅
