libby & lily | friends across the pond

teen-girls-smiling

Only took us 8 years to finally meet!  Ahh so exciting 😀  Libby and I have known each other since 2007 through our mums (moms!) being bloggy friends back in the day.  We sent each other penpal letters and gifts, had matching sweaters and everything, it was so cute.  As you can imagine my mum and I were sooo excited to hear they were visiting England this Easter!  We drove down to their hotel in Buckinghamshire last Friday and basically spent the whole day chatting like we’d known each other forever.  Which I guess we kinda had, but it definitely didn’t feel like the first time we’d met in person!  Crazy how similar we are.  Like the American and English versions of each other haha.  We’re already planning staying with each other over summer, fingers crossed!

Many many many pictures taken!  Both as posey in front of the camera as each other haha. 😀

Was cool hearing each others’ accents for the first time too!

The group picture that’s been a long time in the making!

Have you ever met up with someone you’ve only known online?  We’re forever hearing about e-safety and not trusting strangers and all that malarkey but I really think some of the best friendships can be found that way.  So sad that we only had 1 day this time!

Oh that’s such a cool story. We always hear about the horror stories but never about the nice meetings. You guys look like you had a blast!

Thank you! It’s so much better than talking online yes, but I knew we would get along so well even before we met!

So great! I think 8 years is a goodish amount of time to check someone out to make sure it is safe to meet them. This is such a wonderful occasion for you! I am glad it worked out. I have friends that I haven’t met yet too. And one friend I met when she came to visit from England. Next time I visit my mum I will certainly have more friends to meet. 11 years ago, my mum worked in the Preston area, but that was before ravelry and before everything. I see that your group is the taller group.

Yeah I think it’d probably have become apparent if something was amiss! I love how we can still consider those we haven’t even met as ‘friends’. Your mum probably worked near(ish) me!
