Liberty print cropped top

Surprise surprise, I made another cropped top!    Found the fabric in my mum’s stash and had to make something cute with it.  I’m pretty sure it’s a Liberty print (the fine detail is very Liberty-esque) but couldn’t find a label so don’t quote me on that!   The bias binding is from the huge collection of sewing and crafty miscellany that I inherited from my Grandma too – I make good use of all the stuff. 🙂  I’m hardly an expert at sewing clothing but I only wanted a simple-ish shape so cobbled together a pattern based on a couple of tops I already own.

Felt like I had a Lilykate Designs HQ in my bedroom as I was making this one!  Meaning I had my mum’s old sewing machine set up on an ironing board (actually really helpful!) with a ton of stuff spread around me.  So hardly a slick headquarters.  Being tucked up in my attic made it feel that way though haha.

Slightly gapey I know, but that can be tweaked for next time.  Pretty pleased with myself for the neatness though – life’s small accomplishments eh?  Expert sewers may be disgusted with my lack of pattern matching but that was never gonna happen.  It’s (pretty much) symmetrical and that’s as good as it’s gonna get.  I found this adorable (and definitely Liberty) print in the stash too, so there are yet more cropped tops to come!

Ditched the high waisted jeans for a change, even if these are kinda Britney circa 2001!  I just find myself wearing the same couple of pairs over and over again usually, no matter how many clothes I own.  Every day seems to be jeans weather.

On a non-bralet-related note, I’m feeling far less restless and irritated than I did the other day!  I had some spontaneous Wednesday night fun… finally got an hour or two of revision actually done (nowhere near enough for a full week but sod it)… went out with the girls for our friend’s birthday last night… had chilled times in good company… taken the cat to the vets… had a smile put on my face by a checkout assistant at Booths (shoutout to the lovely Kath!)… and other random stuff like that.  Last night’s birthday meal being particularly interestingggg (?!?) as I was dragged into the centre of the restaurant by the group playing live Italian music and given a tambourine to play.  As you do. 🙂

Hope everyone’s had a lovely half term/week!  Any bizarre happenings to share?

This is a great top! I like that it is close fitting and does not gape at the hem. Nice fabric too. I love low rise jeans on you! It is all I can wear. Britney 2001?! Oh no! Does that mean I have not changed my style for 14 years? Maybe so. I may as well fess up. I still wear flared jeans and I am waiting for them to come back in style. Ever since about 2001, I guess.

Thank you Max! The fabric is so pretty isn’t it! I think I wore low rise jeans age 3 in 2001 haha 😀 Flared jeans are indeed coming back in style, you’re ahead of the game!
