weekend in denim

denim-shirt-dress

Lily returns properly today, wooo!   This time with clothes, because what else.  A ‘Weekend in Denim’ is the name of this campaign run by George at Asda, so today I bring you exactly that.  A weekend’s worth of denim outfits.  Hardly difficult considering denim is appropriate for pretty much any occasion but prom!

Outfit no.1!

dress: c/o George at Asda | shoes: Miss Selfridge (old)

This one’s my ‘evening’ outfit but we’re talking a pretty casual evening do here.  Like maybe a meal out or something.  Defo nothing that involves much walking ’cause oh em gee these shoes were NOT made for walking.  Funnily enough they were actually the first pair of heels I ever bought though!  My 14-year-old self thought they’d be a piece of cake, what with the nice chunky heel and that.  4 inches, no problem!  Surprise surprise I saw the error of my ways a whole 30 seconds into the awards evening I’d bought them for.  They ain’t one bit comfy.   No platform + highhhh heels = pain.  But yeah, I dug them out again recently and for a meal out or something, they’d do just fine. 😛

Onto the denim!  I’ve wanted a denim dress for ages because everybody else seems to have one and they look so good and sometimes I’m a total trend whore like that, oops.  Most that I’ve tried over the last few months came up short, literally (full-scale tall girl clothing rant here) but this one actually covers a respectable amount, so we’re good.  Finally.  Late to the party I know (as always) but it’ll be a good one through winter!  I’m thinking with tights during the daytime, heels at night…

I wore denim last night too (my trusty skinnies never fail me), but last night did not resemble anything like an outfit post.   Didn’t chance wearing new jeans.  Spillage is usually inevitable, you see. 🙂 Fantabulous night though, love my gals lots <3 <3 <3

Outfit 2:

Anyway, quick diversion from my blurry memories of last night – back to more respectable stuff!  Like hot air balloon shirts.  You see, I don’t know whether it’s the blogosphere’s influence or what, but I’ve becomes slightly obsessed with novelty prints.  Btw by the ‘blogosphere’s influence’ I mean the way all bloggers seem to like cute stationery and cute prints and all the instagrammable things.  You know what I mean?  So yeah, doesn’t get much more cutesy than a shirt with hot air balloons on.  Except maybe my cat shorts that I’ll never shut up about.

Such a random idea for a print, but I love it!  I’d been keeping my eyes peeled for another white shirt (the only ones I own are from school or are 254 sizes too big) and then this one came along and made me happy.  I saw a hot air balloon float over my house the other day too!  They’re cute on shirts and they look pretty but I’m not sure you’d ever catch me actually in one.  Heights aren’t my fave thing in the world OK.  The balloons are so cute though 😍

teen-texting

And because this campaign’s actually about denim, not just what to style it with – let’s take a wee look at these jeans.  They’re a ‘straight leg’ – two words I’d usually run a mile from – but seem to fit more like skinnies.  I like the ‘rips’ too – they’re kinda distressed but without the gaping holes and cold knees like the pair I DIYed.

Outfit 3:

jeans & jumper: c/o George at Asda | converse: Office

A real ‘weekend’ one!  Jeans + comfy jumper + converse.  A jumper with side slits and missing shoulders that is.  Don’t wanna be too boring!  From the front it kinda looks like I got confused and dressed myself in trousers AND a dress, but then from the side we’re good.  The cold shoulder trend persists into autumn too –  I swear wearing clothes without the shoulders cutout was banned over summer or something.

I think that’s a full weekend’s outfits covered!

I’m definitely a denim girl! I love the first outfit personally, it’s a great casual evening out, maybe with just the girlfriends. I wish I had a denim dress <3

It’s my fave too 😀 I guess they’re worth the pain in the same way a strapless bra is sometimes haha!
