Typical birthday girl wearing as many new clothes at once as possible! I turned sixteen last Friday, and wore this outfit for a little shopping trip the following day to spend some of my birthday pennies. Sixteen sounds so much older than fifteen don’t you think? I had a fairly low-key birthday this time round, as we’d waved goodbye to my brother’s German exchange partner at 5.30am and so our heads were nodding by the evening.  Had a lovely day with friends and family nonetheless, naturally complete with obligatory birthday cake and cupcakes, and a trip to the carvery for dinner!  Calories don’t count on birthdays 😉

I’ve never asked for anything specific for birthdays or christmas, and I’m never disappointed with surprises!  Mama France was spot on this time with this jumper – I adore how it’s so lightweight and yet snuggly at the same time, and the crop shape is perfect for subtly creating a waistline over long loose layers.  These leggings and jacket were birthday presents too, and I think they’re perfectly at home amidst my wardrobe of girly floaty pieces like this blouse.  I sound like a broken record haha, pairing opposites together seems to be my thing!  As well as clothes, I also received lots of gorgeous makeup and jewellery and other little bits and bobs (birthday haul post coming soon!), one of which this adorable locket necklace from my friend Ellie.  Little details really make an outfit don’t you think?

Apologies in advance if you become sick of the sight of this hat – it’s barely left my head since I bought it last week and I don’t see that changing much in the near future.
