the lily diaries | October 9th

It’s now Friday morning and I haven’t blogged in what feels like an eternity (since, well, Saturday) because I GOT BUSY and oopsie, didn’t manage to blog.  I’m no pro at that ‘batch writing and scheduling’ thing.  Chatty life-lately-diary-ramble it is!  Just whilst I get back into the swing of things. Bear with. 😛

I’ve appreciated that fresh air does a world of good.  Clears your head and that.  Walking from A to B rather than hopping on the bus is worth the extra half hour sometimes.  Chilled music on the iPod, bit of alone time outdoors.  Also, fallen autumn leaves are nice.  Wonder how long they’ll stay nice and photogenic for Instagram for?

I’ve learnt to never, EVER count my chickens, or whatever the phrase is!  Do not count on something happening until it’s actually happened.  Life lesson.  To quote Monday night Lily: ‘somebody’s picking me up from the train station tomorrow so nothing can go wrong, it shouldn’t be stressful!’.  Tuesday morning Lily then finds herself on a roundabout trip through the northern half of England.  You see, Monday night Lily had packed her bag with every possible item for every possible eventuality, except, y’know, a fatality on the tracks.  Didn’t plan around that one!  Of course all the trains were out of whack, but thanks to a pair of very helpful station guys (thank youuu!), sent me on my jollies through Manchester and Yorkshire.  Then home through Northumberland and Cumbria.  5 trains in one day and a grand tour of the north of England.  Nice views out the window though. 😛

[My view from the packed-to-the-brim train to Manchester, which I did NOT plan to catch]

I like Geordie accents.  Why aye pet, haha.  I find British accents kinda fascinating how you only have to travel half an hour away sometimes and the accent’s completely different.  (Oh BTW on Tuesday I was in Newcastle visiting British Engines for a vlog.  Just to clear that one up.  It was a really fun afternoon – lots of laughs and lots of learning!)

I rocked the safety shoes at Rotary Power- they were pretty nice compared to the image in my head!

I also rocked the safety glasses.  New blogger accessory for the season, yes?

I’m kinda craving a day of doing nothing right now.  For the first time in like, ever.  Don’t get me wrong, this whole ‘Tomorrow’s Engineers Vlogger’ thing is an absolutely amazing opportunity and I’m meeting so many fab people and loving it, but my God it is keeping me busy!  I wouldn’t trade the travel and experience for extra hours in bed and free time, no way.  Doesn’t mean I won’t appreciate it when I have it though. 😀

I’m liking the iPhone fisheye lens attachment.  Hence the random photo of an empty Carslile train station.  I had half an hour to kill and the evening light was pretty.

I realised I probably look weird when I snort laughing in public.  Can’t help it.  Once a laughing fit starts and one oh-so-attractive snort comes out, I can’t stop.  Such a hottie, me!

I loved finding cute notes hidden in my room.  It’s like the most adorable thing ever, js.  Hehehehe it makes me smile, ahh. 😀

A bunch of people from college have been in Geneva visiting CERN this week and I’m well jel.  The geology crowd hopped over to Iceland last week too.  No fair, I wanna go!  Both places look amazing.

Trying to throw together blog posts quickly is soooo hard.  Fellow bloggers – you feel me?  Writing under time constraints is painful.  Like, where all my words at?  Ideas, Y U not make yourselves into sentences?  Forcing creativity is just an exercise in timewasting.   Must be great to be able to churn out those weekly tips posts and outfits 3x per week and lifestyle ideas and everything but sometimes even having 70 drafts saved doesn’t help!  Need me some of that blogging momentum again.

Gals night is much needed.  Bring on Friday night, s’all I’m saying.

Chunky chips > normal chips.  Chunky chips can be relied on to save a stressful Thursday night.  Especially when combined with aforementioned snort laughing at inappropriate stuff.  Thanks for that one Dan!  So yes, please excuse me whilst I go take random to a whole new level.  Can’t deny that one though, can you.  CHUNKY CHIPS are so good!  I’ll shut up now.
