that deckchair dress | the ASOS dress I fell head over heels for

Just popping in for a quick catchup and to say LOOK AT MY NEW DRESS GUYS.  Isn’t it just fantastic?  Approximately 13 seconds passed between spotting it on the ASOS new in page and it landing in my basket, and well, here we are.  Finding good photo walls to show off the stripy goodness during a mini getaway this week.

According to Instagram, I’m not the only one who’s fallen head over heels for it and I fully expect to be seeing a lot of deckchair print dresses knocking about in the near future.  Somehow this gaudy stripy number feels very ‘me’ but is also unlike anything I currently own, and I can’t quite put my finger on why, but I simply adore it.

dress: ASOS (tall, regular)

At first I thought it might seem a tad OTT for daytime what with being strapless and all, but I actually think it’s easier to dress down than up.  I didn’t feel daft wandering around the pretty little town of Ulverston wearing it one sunny afternoon this week, anyway.  To be honest I’m not actually sure how I would actually dress it up should the need arise… wedge espadrilles maybe?  I’ll stick to white trainers for now.

Not gonna lie, I felt ever so slightly like a circus tent and Chloe drew the same parallel in an Insta comment, but I think the nipped in waist keeps it from becoming too tent like.  Maybe a floor length version wouldn’t be a good idea, but I’m all for the statement piece otherwise.  Mine’s the tall version and it’s available in regular length too, and whilst I’m sure I’ve seen it in petite at some point it doesn’t seem to be on the website right now.  I daren’t allow myself too much time investigating the matter because I’ll fall down one of those ASOS holes where you see one item you just gotta have (like this one), then spend the next half hour browsing because ‘if you’re placing an order anyway you might as well get a few things’.  Ahem.

As for the aforementioned quick catchup – I have very little to report at the moment, other than that I feel like I’m stuck in a revision bubble that I can’t wait to get out of and I’ve dyed my hair darker brown.  It’s not like I’ve put my life completely on hold until exams are over, (obviously I’ve been away for a few days and didn’t spend the entire time glued to textbooks) but it’s just always in the back of my mind.  Psychologically I feel like I’ve moved on from full time education, but that won’t be reality until the 11th of June.  Part of me doesn’t want to hype up the ‘summer freedom’ too much because that could just be a recipe for disappointment, but yeah – at this point I’m counting down the hours, that’s for sure!  Finally feels like I’m on the home stretch now so just one more week of getting my head down and I can prance around in stripy dresses all I like.  CAN’T WAIT.

Sweet and feminine! This strapless sundress in white-red stripes is a great choice for summer walks! Like the way you completed it with white sneakers.
