lancaster

standing-in-lancaster-castle-courtyardHad a fun day out in Lancaster this weekend!  I love day trips where you can spend the whole day meandering, exploring and just having a laugh, with nowhere in particular to be or nothing that has to be done.  Lancaster seemed like the perfect place to make a day of and so we hopped on a bus and made it up from there.  Turned out to be quite the random day:D

vegetarian-pasta-casa-rastelli-lancasterFirst stop, as always, food!  Mixed veggie pesto pasta for me at a little cafe called Casa Rastelli.

cobbled-street-lancaster-ukLancaster is such a lovely city and these cobbled streets on our way to the castle make a perfect outfit photo backdrop don’t you think? As you can see I’m wearing almost the same outfit as shown here a couple of weeks ago, but more weather appropriate for the drastic shift to Autumn we’ve had here this week.  There were rumours of a mini heatwave hitting us but somehow I’m skeptical about that one.  Bring on the black tights every day I say, might as well embrace it and be cosy!

lancaster-castleWhilst it might not look like the most appealing of attractions in this photo, Lancaster Castle is actually a really nice place to visit.  Now it is no longer in use as a prison more of the building is open to the public for tours etc. After a little confusion over what was going on and where, we found ourselves waiting for this witchy woman to invite us into her dungeon. Told you it was a random day!  The ‘tour’ itself was hilarious if slightly bizarre, and I would definitely recommend!

wearing-protective-headgear-lancaster-castleA protective helmet seems to be the only hat that remotely suits me.  Unfortunately I’m not looking for a career on Extreme Makeover Home Edition, so I think I’ll just have to give up and leave the whole hat thing to others;)

chickpeas-lancaster-market-stallBy late afternoon market stalls were packing up for the day, so it would’ve been wrong to pass up this delicious looking indian spicy chickpea-potato-veggie-thingy (technical term), right?  esquires-coffee-house-toffee-apple-latteToffee apple latte at Esquires Coffee house for a much needed caffeine kick.  Surprising how tiring day-tripping can be.

sitting-on-steps-judges-lodgings-lancasterThe light was beautiful in the hour or so before the film we were seeing came on, and the area surrounding Lancaster Castle and Priory is really cute.  I’m pretty sure the last time I was on these steps in front of the Judges Lodgings was as a year 2 primary school student, dressed in a purple ‘velvet’ victorian costume with complimentary bonnet. Was a fun day, from what I remember;)

sat-sideways-judges-lodgings-lancasterWe ended the day with a Saturday night movie date (ain’t we cute;) ) to see Insidious 2 – made me jump out of my skin but was pretty funny for a horror!

Had a slightly less dynamic Sunday consisting of mainly homework and pattern writing, of which I have no photos to bore you to tears with.

Hope you all had a fun weekend!
