maxi skirts & insanity workouts

Today’s outfit totalled a whopping cost of £9!  Primark and H&M, how I do love thee.  I picked up a few summery-ish pieces in town yesterday all of which happened to be navy or navy striped, so I think there’s gonna be a theme to my summer outfits!  Time to finally steer away from grey, me thinks.  And why did it take me so long to discover my love for maxi skirts?  Easy, comfy, flattering, sorted.  I really like the more covered up but clingy look.  This one was only a fiver too!  I’m thinking it’ll be a good bet for England’s pathetic attempts at spring and summer that we’ve all come to expect.  Last weekend’s sun was short lived FYI, for those of you in more predictable climes.  Yay for cropped tops that aren’t meant to be cropped tops but fit cropped on me too. 😀

I’ve had a bit of a funny day today.  Including learning the hard way that super super intense exercise on an empty stomach really isn’t a good idea!  I’ve borrowed the Insanity workout program from a friend – I said in my New Years fitness resolutions that I was gonna either make up my own workouts or follow programs (properly), so here’s me keeping to my word.  So far I’ve only done the fit test and the plyometric cardio cicruit, but boy is it tough going.  The workouts themselves have been fine (if absolute torture constitutes ‘fine’ that is) but clever me did today’s workout on zero food and gave myself a migraine of sorts.  I’ve never had one before so it really freaked me out when an hour later my vision went all weird and my head started pounding!  I thought I’d put my contact lenses in back to front or something at first.  That twinkly light business is seriously trippy!  I googled it, as you do when you want to convince yourself you’re dying, and found that exercise is a common trigger for migraines when you’re blood sugar’s low from not eating.  Makes sense I suppose.  I’ve never had one before though and I almost always work out or run before breakfast, so I guess that shows that these Insanity workouts are a whole ‘nother level!  I’ve heard loads about the Insanity program being an absolute killer but giving amazing results, so I’m just gonna push myself to see how far I can go.  Lesson learnt to eat a banana beforehand though.  I just took a couple of paracetamols and slept it off this time, but ain’t nobody got time for a 2 hour nap every day.

The number of times I’ve blogged that I’m ‘gonna get my act together now’ is getting quite ridiculous!  But yeah, these Easter holidays I’m gonna try my bloody hardest to do just that.  Starting with attempting to bring together my collection of vague ideas and one liners into more actual blog posts, hopefully!  I’ve just a nice amount of plans for the break so I’m not mega busy here, there, and everywhere but I’m not at a loss for things to do either, just how I like to be. 🙂  Of course I’ve more than enough revision to be cracking on with for my AS exams too, the joys.  I’ve made a start already; I’m determined not to leave it until the last minute!  Bit of a theme of self-discipline going on here if you hadn’t noticed!

Thank you Jessie! I didn’t have shoes on here but a cute pair of sandals wouldn’t bump up the cost too much! I’m so over this rain now, need it to be summer asap!

Maxi’s can be not so sexy, but this one is form fitting enough to make the boys look twice!! Nice job. And nice full body photos too!

Lily, I love that outfit! I feel the nautical stripes are going to be a firm favourite in my wardrobe this summer, also. The maxi skirt looks lovely on you too. I love when you manage to get a good bargain…I can’t help but tell everyone how cheap my outfit is when I do! And for £9 that is definitely an outfit worth boasting about :).
As for the exercise situation, I can totally feel your pain with the migraine-side of things! But hey, at least it’s motivation to get some hearty pre-workout meals in before you hit the next Insanity work out hard. I also cannot believe you described Insanity as ‘fine’! I’ve never tried it (though I am desperate to give it a go) but I have a feeling fine would be the last adjective I’d be using….I feel I would be lucky to make it out alive haha. But keep up the motivation and fingers crossed I will be jumping on the Insanity bandwagon, soon!

Thank you Tasmin! I’ve realised that pretty much everything I’ve bought or had my eye on recently has been striped, so I think there might be a stripy theme in OOTDs to come! I’m always getting people to guess how much it all cost haha 🙂
Glad I’m not the only one who’s had these migraines! Thankfully I haven’t had one since. We’ll see how I get on doing Insanity before college though! It’s DEFINITELY not ‘fine’ as in easy, it’s only just ‘fine’ as in not throwing up! Hardest home workout I’ve tried definitely. Let me know if you give it a shot! You’ll love/hate it 😀
