short summers and long skirts | maxis

End of summer, oh how I am not ready for you.  Nuh-uh.  Come back in 6 months and at least give me chance to develop some kind of tan, yeah?  The thought of black opaque tights is giving me shudders already.  I mean, along with autumn comes cosy and hot chocolate and fallen leaves and all the Pinterest cliches, sure.  But so do drizzle and cold and sludgy leaves so yeah, just let me cling on to bare legs and going outside without goosebumps for a wee while yet.  Oh and cropped tops.  Cropped tops are life, DIY or not.

Whilst cropped tops aren’t anything new round these parts, long sweepy things (other than my hair) certainly are.  Having so much fabric swishing around my ankles felt so weird at first!  Fun to try something different and *slightly* more boho than my usual style.  I’m yet to trip over the hemline and fall up the stairs, but there’s time.  Much as I don’t even want to talk about Autumn, I imagine it’ll work mighty fine with my skinny grey bodysuit too.  Or a black poloneck.  And with hidden thermal tights underneath when the temperature drops 10 degrees overnight.

Don’t think I even need to say where this skirt’s from do I?  Marks & Spencers, you have my heart.  20 bonus points for making maxi skirts that are actually long and not always catering for petite girls only.  Big thanks on behalf of all tall-ies.  Another 20 points for popping it in the sale too.  Please don’t disappoint me this autumn!

Are you really a fashion blogger if you won’t risk traipsing through a farmer’s field or pose in front of  stranger’s doorway for the sake of an OOTD?  Photogenic fields all around in France and I couldn’t miss the opportunity.  Blogger life.

Now the end of summer’s just around the corner it’s sinking in with me that I don’t have an ‘end of summer holidays’ to count down to for the first time in my life.  That’s a daunting yet exciting thought if ever there was one!  Days just kinda go on indefinitely now.  Just gotta make the most of each and every one!

Thanks Cristina! These were taken on a Canon 7D with 70-200mm lens, and edited in Photoshop Elements 🙂

Ahh! So beautiful. Is that a cool breeze I see there? I love the colours, but above all I really love the idea of the return of fall weather. It has been really scary hot here in Toronto, but this week we are seeing some cool breezes. I don’t know how I would feel if I had European weather. I think I would love it, but then again, maybe I would miss the burning heat here. Also I see the comments above all focus on the superior quality of the photos. I agree!!

Thank you Max!! There was a cool breeze in France yes, and we’ve come home to a few days of warm sunshine and back to rain again already now. We literally have the log fire going right now 😛 European weather is sooo varied, Britain has an unreliable little climate of it’s own. Oh how I wish we had reliable heat like Toronto!
Really glad you like the photos!

You look absolutely beautiful. I love the patter of this skirt. Summer is really going to its end and although I’m sad I pretty excited for all the fun things in the Autumn. Hope you’ll have a nice week! xo

Thank you so much Antonia! I’m coming round to the idea of autumn slowly, especially after seeing all the cute clothes in the shops!
      Have a lovely weekend!
