how I wear brights

Hi-vis done right today!  Always a few “no-ones’ gonna miss you today” comments whenever this coat comes out.  Bright yellow can easily slip into kids’ TV presenter territory but hopefully short (very short) skirt and heels takes it away from CBeebies.  This duffel coat was bought for starting secondary school would you believe, until I realised the ‘blue or black coats only’ rule.  Sooo glad to be rid of that.  I feel like a total broken record saying that I’m still wearing clothes from my tweenage years, but I’m calling it justification for the amount of clothes I seem to have!  One or two people at college have asked me how I nearly always wear something different and my answer is simple:  I don’t stop wearing clothes just because they’re 4, or 5, or 6 years off the shelf.  Guess I just had good taste. ;D  Mixing my own handmades in there helps too, but unfortunately I can’t take credit for any of today’s items.  Plus, I’m forever stealing from my mum’s wardrobe too, boots are the case in point today!

Who else has this week off?  A full week of people to see, places to go, things to do is great by me.  I love having my time filled.  Still time for plenty spontaneous stuff to though, which is just how I like it!  Chilled out catchups with friends are always needed and I’m gonna *try* to take my workouts up a notch too, because I can. 😀

Ok so now I realise I may have gone slightly overboard with the stripes…

Somebody help me out with Halloween costume ideas!  A crazy hair/makeup look that I can easily throw together an outfit around?  Searching for Halloween looks brings back all manner of extravagant getups that must take months to prepare.  Let me know if you’ve any more low-key ideas!  What are you going as?

Hi Lily! Love your post as usual, with your chitchats and all! If it can help you I’m going dressed as a pin-up for Halloween, because I am on a budget and in lack of creativity to make my own costume, haha! I might just temporary dye my hair and use colour contacts is all. What is great with pin-up style is that it’s very easy to do, there’s also plenty of tutorials on Internet and victory rolls are actually quite simple to create! As far as make-up is considered, eye-liner/red lipstick combo is perfectly enough, and for the outfit everybody has high heels and a pencil skirt at home 😉 also, if you can master hair bouffant and if you own a Vichy shirt, you can try those ’60s French Riviera actresses looks as an inspiration (eg. Brigitte Bardot)
Also, one of my friends goes as Claire Danes in Luhrmann’s Romeo + Juliet, sounds gorgeous doesn’t it! I watched a lot of Michelle Phan videos for inspiration… wish it was Halloween every month!!
Hope it helps, can’t wait to see what you’ll decide to do!
    Have a nice evening! xx

I love writing chitchatty posts so it makes me happy that you like reading them! I’m sure you’ll look lovely! I might actually give it a go myself if I can find a pencil skirt!
I’ll be sure to share what I decide!
      Thank you for commenting :’)

Last year I made a knit and felted witch’s hat that I will wear. I will just wear it with my usual clothes.

Oh gosh, you’ve made me feel old! I don’t think I could fit in anything I wore as a teenager, let alone was any of it remotely wearable now as I spent many years in a wannabe goth phase! Anyway, my old age aside, I love how you’ve styled this duffle. I’m short as you know so duffles never look anything but childish on me, certainly not chic like this one does on you! Great casual look 🙂 CC x

I’m sure I’ll be thinking the same in a few years! Thankfully I don’t think I’ve had any dramatic ‘phases’ and my taste hasn’t actually changed that much. I’m sure you’d still look lovely in a duffle (duffel? idk!). Thank you!
