when is an #ootd not an #ootd?

teen-girl-wearing-baggy-white-shirt

It’s a bit of a funny concept, this ‘posting pictures of what you wear on the internet’ malarkey!  I’ve been asked once or twice why I do it (and/or why I blog in general) and I’m guessing I’m not the only one to struggle to answer these baffled non-bloggers.  ‘Tis a difficult one!  Let’s just waffle about outfit photos for now though, shall we?  Not pondering what is the point of them exactly, but how do you decide whether what you’re clothing yourself in that day is actually post worthy?  I mean, here I’m still wearing my ballet leotard after work, with a plain black pair of leggings and my dad’s shirt on top.  I did go to the effort of putting on lipstick for you guys though, so think yourself lucky!  So yeah, might not be the most exciting of outfits but hey ho.  What do you reckon makes an outfit worthy of blogging?  How ‘you’ it is maybe?  That makes no sense… I talk rubbish sometimes haha!

In all likelihood none of you would’ve noticed (I’m not daft enough to think you pay that much attention to my face) but to me it’s so obvious that I’m wearing lenses here!  They’re prescription so obviously clear but I’m sure they make my eyes seem bluer anyway, and give a little blue ring around my iris.  Unless it’s just my eyes playing tricks on me (lol).  I’ve just this week started wearing monthlies, and I’m finding it sooooo much better than wearing glasses.  I hardly ever wear my glasses for blog photos because I seem to get funny reflections and I don’t desperately need them to look at a camera, but I need them whenever I’m actually ‘doing’ anything.  Which is a lot.  I can now actually read road signs and watch HD videos actually in HD, what a novelty!  So far no irritations or funny business either.  Anybody else made the switch to contacts recently?

On a random (grateful) note, thank you to everybody who’s left such thoughtful comments recently!  Makes me so happy to read every single one.  I’m getting a better idea of the kind of posts you seem to like, which just gives me more ideas for the future.  Any time I say anything (to myself or out loud) about blogging going well I feel like I’m gonna jinx it, but I just felt a thank you was due!  I’ve gone and done it now haven’t I…

Mocks this week, fabulous!  I’ve done a fair bit of revision just because I really don’t want that feeling of knowing I could’ve done better if I’d done more.  Means I have a full 5 day week in college, wahhh.  Physics and History exams back to back on Wednesday!  Lily does not appreciate. 😉   Wish me luck!

So wish I could wear contacts but I only can’t see out of one eye so I’d have to wear one…and not the other, which may have some interesting consequences! x

My dad only wears one lens and he does fine! I do find it weird when I only have one in though haha, my vision goes all strange.

That top shot of you is absolutely stunning and I think you should keep your dad’s shirt as you wear it so well and hopefully he won’t miss it… I love men’s oversized shirts (or at least they are oversized on us women), they look so good thrown on over just about anything.

Thank you so much Samio! I must admit that shirt has lived in my wardrobe for a little while now. 😛 They look better on us don’t they?

Such a classic look with your dad’s shirt – it looks perfect on you!

Congrats on moving over to contacts 🙂 I’ve worn them for years, but recently developed an eye infection due to wearing them on a long-haul flight…besides the fact that I went scuba diving in them. Oops. Just be vigilant with care and you’ll be absolutely fine!

Thank you Kamara! I’m being extra careful with them atm (probably just paranoid because they’re new to me) but I’ll try my best to make sure I don’t let it slip!

Fashion blogging is a funny thing, people don’t understand at all why I do it and I struggle to explain. I’ve been wearing contacts for tears, would ever go back to my glasses now.
Fab legging btw and thanks for you comment in my blog

It really is a difficult one to explain isn’t it! I’ve gotten used to contacts really quicker and they’re just so much more convenient.
Thank you! You’re very welcome too 🙂

I’m lucky to have ‘perfect vision’ although I’ll probably lose that in my 30’s! My other half wears monthlies and he has done for years. He looks strange with glasses on now! He pointed out the ring around his iris a while back, and I’d never noticed it before. I notice it in people now, but usually because I’m nosy and want to see if people wear contacts! I’ve never spotted it in pictures though, and I’m struggling to in yours? So it’s not noticeable from over here! 😀

I’d post an ootd if I was feeling particularly, good about said outfit? Maybe that’s the wrong word to use? I’d never post one if I was walking around in a holey top and a faded t-shirt kind of thing? I have to be in a particular mood, and the clothes have to be ‘happy clothes’. (‘happy clothes’ – when you buy something new and for weeks after it makes you feel good, before they’re resigned to the general mush of your wardrobe and you forget about how awesome they were when new…)

Aaaand another essay by Alice. Eeep.

I love your essays Alice, please keep them coming!
You are lucky! My eyesight isn’t exactly awful but it’s bad enough that I need help from something. I didn’t notice it on others before either, but O can easily spot the ‘ring’ now. Just a faint blue outline around my iris!
I know what you mean, if you’ve felt particularly confident in the outfit maybe! I always forget about clothes I’ve loved, it’s great to go shopping in your own wardrobe sometimes isn’t it?
Thank you so much for commenting!
