If ever there was a challenge created specifically for me, I’m pretty sure this would be it! I was invited to join Thinkmoney’s ‘Summer fashion challenge’, and if that isn’t right up my alley then I don’t know what is. The challenge: buy a complete summer outfit for the beach, a festival, daytime, night-time or work, for £50. Challenge accepted! My vouchers arrived and my mum and I spent last Saturday in town hunting for their best use. Not quite as easy as it sounds, I tell you! Not easy, but definitely doable on the budget. I’m really happy with the outfit I eventually decided on, anyway! Gotta be prepared to take a whileeee. And walk many laps of town. Try on a stupid number of items too! The more the merrier, really. I took 17 hangers into the TK Maxx changing rooms. Including one dress that looked like something Velma from Scooby Doo would wear and a skirt that turned out far too Mary Poppins for my liking, but there’s no harm done in trying is there?
I almost put this dress in the ‘no’ pile for being too basic and almost didn’t bother trying it on. Glad I did though! It fits sooo well. Usually the waistline of skater style dresses sits way too high on my long body, but not this one. It’s actually longer than the just-about-arse-covering length of most dresses, too, for once! Not bad for £9.99, considering the fabric’s really drapey and feels pretty decent quality too. Nice one, TK Maxx!
I went for the daytime option, in case you couldn’t guess. Seemed like the most worthwhile.
For some reason these aren’t showing in black on the website, but they’re here. Just a nice simple pair of sandals, not glitzy or strappy or jazzy in any way. ‘Nice’ is one of those adjectives you’re told not to use in primary school, but sometimes ‘just nice’ is a good thing. Same goes for the bag and bangle, nice shape, nice size, nice and simple. 🙂
Gonna leave it there for tonight because I’m knackered and fancy a nice bath before bed! Well, I feel like I’ve passed the point of tiredness and come out the other side. This afternoon was another story. If I’m tired, I’ll fall asleep literally anywhere. With my head on the desk in a science lab, leaning on my arm on a bus, anywhere! Didn’t have a morning coffee today – not good. Minimum 4 cups per day is more my style! My days aren’t even exceptionally tiring at the minute considering we’re barely doing anything at college, but I think that’s kind of the point. Swear I’m more tired on days of doing very little than busy ones. Everything in this world just works the opposite way to how it should, doesn’t it?
Challenge completed! Thanks Bryony for including me. 😀
